Dusit offers free wi-fi

DUSIT International now offers free unlimited high-speed internet via wi-fi and wired Internet to every guest throughout their stay at any Dusit property worldwide. This service will also apply to all future opening properties including Dusit Thani Maldives, Dusit Devarana New Delhi and Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi, all scheduled to open in 2012.  

“Universal connectivity is no longer optional, it is imperative that all hotel guests are easily able to connect to the internet while they are away from their home or office, without paying exorbitant fees upon check out” says Jiri Kobos, vice president, operations.

Starwood launches new ‘Go-To’ app

STARWOOD Preferred Guest introduces its new application for iPhone and iPod Touch, which utilises state-aware technology to create personalised guest experiences across Starwood’s nine distinct brands. The latest development is part of Starwood’s ongoing commitment to tech innovation to meet the needs of today’s connected global traveller–for example; Starwood was the first in the industry to offer FaceTime customer service, a feature that’s built into the new SPG app. The app also includes fully integrated booking, member information, comprehensive hotel searches and travel details, customer service and social media.

The app, currently available for free from the App Store on iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad or at ww.spg.com/iphoneapp, is the latest development in SPG’s evolution into a hyper-personalised guest services platform.

Gulf Air renews partnership with Microsoft

THE national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain Gulf Air announced the renewal of its strategic IT partnership with IT giant Microsoft with the signing of ‘Enterprise Agreement.’ Under the agreement, signed between Samer Majali, CEO of Gulf Air and Tareq Hijazi, country manager for Microsoft in the Kingdom of Bahrain and Sultanate of Oman, Gulf Air will gain access to a wide range of Microsoft’s cutting edge solutions and innovations. Microsoft will supply a range of software solutions and services to upgrade and standardize Gulf Air’s IT infrastructure and help improve its operational efficiencies while benefitting from attractive pricing and flexible, cost-effective licensing. Gulf Air will also gain access to extensive technical and operational support from a team of Microsoft experts.

Dadabhai Travel extends Travelport deal

GLOBAL travel services provider Travelport announces that it has signed a multi-year global distribution system (GDS) deal with Dadabhai Travel, one of the largest travel conglomerates in Bahrain. Since Travelport opened up its own Galileo travel agency support network in Bahrain in 2010, the GDS provider’s direct operations have been an important resource to local travel agencies, with fully-equipped sales, training and helpdesk teams available to provide the highest levels of dedicated customer service.
