BAHRAIN’S popular four-star Ramada Hotel has taken upon itself the mission of trying to improve in all areas of service including guest relations, newly appointed general manager Matthias Hellweg says.

“Trying to improve in all areas means we are not only concentrating on the technical side but also on guest services. I think we have a good product in our hands especially with the restaurants and the popularity the hotel enjoys in the area. Our focus area now will be guest services,” he says.

“We are doing very well at the moment; we are 100 per cent booked. But this is largely because of the FIA World Endurance Championship going on in the kingdom at the moment,” says Hellweg in an interview with TTN.

In his first assignment as general manager, Hellweg’s task will be to be successful in what he does. “This is my first job in Bahrain and hope to stay here for a long time,” says Hellweg, who was previously with the French chain Concorde in Egypt.

Hellweg…we’re open to all markets

“We are a classical four-star hotel, which means that we are open to all markets and clients, whether it be families or businesses. We currently have the image of an ideal business hotel and this character will remain the same and our concept is to offer affordable accommodation from a central location,” he says.

On the renovation going on at Ramada, Hellweg says: “Refurbishment is ongoing. We never stop improving.”

In general the hotel has opened the impressive refurbished lobby and is moving forward to refurbish the rest of the property. “We have some maintenance projects in the back of the house. We are thinking ahead for the future,” he says.

On the Mice (meetings, incentives, conferencing, exhibitions) capabilities of the hotel, he says: “We have two conference rooms which have been renovated. For smaller groups we are ideal. We want to capitalise on that. We are also cooperating with other hotels to win a portion of the Mice market.”

Ramada Bahrain offers competitive Mice packages that include free use of Le Rendezvous, its business centre. The hotel can accommodate small conferences and seminars up to 60 people within its premises.

And for Christmas the hotel will continue its ‘turkey’ takeaway and delivery offers.
