The Sheraton Kuwait celebrates half a century of operations this year, and is looking ahead to the next 50 years with the promise of continuing to deliver unsurpassed excellence in hospitality.

Since its establishment 50 years ago, the Sheraton Kuwait has become famous for its customer service, facilities and fabulous restaurants. The addition of Four Points by Sheraton Kuwait in 2003 further strengthened this reputation as it established itself as a leading business hotel in the country.

'We are committed to continuing what we do best by providing guests genuine loyalty and exceptional personalised service throughout their stay for 50 more years to come,' says Fahed Abushaar, general manager of the Sheraton Kuwait.

'This year is indeed a monumental one. This golden jubilee marks 50 years of excellence, a wholehearted commitment to perfection, and constant development from a deeply rooted past to become a part of Kuwait’s authentic heritage and a part of its bright future,' Abushaar says.

After the completion of the extension of Four Points by Sheraton Kuwait a few years ago and the recent renovation to one of the Sheraton Kuwait’s ballroom, the hotel complex is the biggest in the country with more than 700 rooms and suites, state-of-the-art meeting rooms, and luxuriously designed ballrooms.

The Kuwait Sheraton’s food and beverage (F&B) outlets include Al Hambra international restaurant, Bukhara Indian restaurant, Shahrayar Iranian restaurant, Ricardo Italian restaurant, Le Tarbouche Lebanese restaurant, the English Tea Lounge and the Lobby Lounge.

Five of these restaurants – Al Hambra, Shahrayar, Le Tarbouche, Bukhara the English Tea Lounge – also have outlets in the Grand Avenue of The Avenues, Kuwait’s largest shopping mall.

The restaurants at the mall show the Sheraton’s innovative approach to the food and beverage scene as the Sheraton brand is synonymous with great hospitality and great restaurants in Kuwait, says Abushaar.

Meanwhile, the latest addition to the F&B offering at Four Points by Sheraton Kuwait is La Mamma Pizzeria.

The contemporary Italian restaurant features speciality pizza Chef Luigi Salerno and a wood-fired oven serving the house special ‘La Mamma’ pizza made with the freshest market ingredients as well as a selection of flavourful antipasti, zuppe, pasta e risotti and delectable Italian desserts.

Meanwhile, two new members have joined the hotel’s senior management. On the F&B side, it has a new cluster culinary director in Frank Manfred Noack, who brings over 33 years of culinary experience and who is also the recipient of numerous awards. The other new appointment is Shaji Abraham, who joined the hotel as its new director of engineering, carrying over 34 years of experience in various hotels in Kuwait.

Abushaar says that he remains confident despite the economic outlook and political situation within the region, as the Sheraton complex comprises 'two well-known Starwood brands which provides a balance in achieving our targets'.

Commenting on the economic scenario, Abushaar says Kuwait is a strong country and the government has invested heavily in key areas such as infrastructure, putting the country 'on the right track'.

In addition, Kuwait is exploring ways to attract foreign investments to boost further development as well as turning the country into a cultural and economic hub, he says.

The government is also committed to making Kuwait a tourist destination as there are plans for developing the Failaka Island, Boubyan, Warba, Miskan and Awha, he adds.

'The Sheraton Kuwait and Four Points by Sheraton Kuwait are considered to be one of the pillars in the hotel industry especially in our region as we were the first Sheraton brand to be managed outside North America. We also play an important role in supporting one of the leading events for inbound and outbound tourism professionals in the Middle East,' he says.

The Sheraton Kuwait will be at 2016 Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai, UAE, from April 25 to 28.
