Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Lakes Towers is pleased to announce the appointment of Balveer Balkissoon as the hotel’s executive chef.

With 18 years of experience in the industry, Chef Balkissoon’s culinary expertise tells tales of a true explorer’s adventures from the exotic islands of the African continent to the bustling cities in the Middle East.

Originally from the Republic of Mauritius where the family ran restaurants for generations, Balkissoon cultivated his passion for exotic flavours and cooking techniques at an early age. He said: “Every year, i took a month-long leave and set off to discover the cuisines of the world. I would train with local chefs and get exposed to culinary varieties. It is a beautiful thing when a career and passion come together, in my kitchen, I always mix a sense of energy and adventure.“

Balkissoon has worked for the Mövenpick Resorts & Spa Mauritius for over five years. Being in a holiday hotspot as vibrant and diverse as this, the talented chef ran the kitchen creating new signature dishes and bagging awards on competitions through innovative cooking techniques fusing European, African and Asian flavours into one gastronomic feast. A mutli-talented globetrotter, he has turned the heads of renowned five-star hotels in the Middle East, including Yas Viceroy Hotel Abu Dhabi and Sheraton Abu Dhabi Hotel & Resort.

Now leading Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Lakes Towers’ culinary team, Balkissoon is bound to twist the norms and set the benchmarks higher. “Chef Balveer’s skill and talent has already lead to significant changes during his first weeks with us. He wakes up with new ideas everyday and his enthusiasm will play an integral part in elevating the experience of our guests.“ said Daniel Kaan, general manager of the hotel. “As a dedicated supporter of creativity in food and beverage myself, I see the hotel’s food and beverage offerings soar forth with a talent as rare as this.“

As executive chef, Balkissoon oversees the hotel’s in-room dining, events and three dining venues including the award winning Nosh restaurant and ubk – urban bar & kitchen, Dubai’s popular chill-out spot. - TradeArabia News Service
