Flyadeal, the newly established low fare airline in Saudi Arabia, will add Abha to its growing route network.

Starting February 1, Abha will be the airline’s fifth destination from Jeddah and third from Riyadh.

The new destination is made possible with the arrival of the fifth brand new A320 aircraft, Al-Kawkab (The Star). Al-Kawkab arrived in Jeddah on December 20 from the Airbus facilities in Hamburg.

Flyadeal will connect Abha to both Jeddah and Riyadh, with two daily flights between the cities, offering convenient schedules in both morning and evening.

Abha - a mountainous region with year-round pleasant weather - is a popular holiday destination. It was named the Capital of Arab Tourism in 2017 by a committee of experts from the Arab Tourism Organization in recognition of Abha’s superb climate, natural beauty, historical, social and cultural heritage, its unique agricultural environment and its particular brand of festivals.

By connecting the heart of the Asir Province with the kingdom’s two largest cities, flyadeal’s new routes will allow customers to explore the national heritage and wonderful scenery in Abha.

Eng. Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, chairman of flyadeal, said: “Since the start of flyadeal, the new airline has focused on providing service, flexibility and convenience. With the opening of the Abha route, we connect travellers point to point within the kingdom with a new low fare service, and in the months ahead, we look forward to even further expansion both domestically and internationally. The welcoming of flyadeal by our gracious customers has led to a great start and we welcome even more new travellers on board."

Con Korfiatis, CEO of flyadeal, said: “We’re delighted to consistently deliver on our promise to bring affordable air travel to more cities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Each month since we began operations has seen us expand our network further and allowed us to serve many more Customers who would like to travel and experience the flyadeal service and attitude. Abha is a popular tourist destination and we look forward to connecting the city with other points in our network, and increase accessibility to this holiday destination.”

The fares will start from SR98 ($26) between Abha and Jeddah and from SR108 ($28.7) between Abha and Riyadh, each way. The “fly” fare includes a generous cabin baggage allowance of 10kg and does not include hold baggage.

Introductory fares will be on sale at flyadeal.com for 15 days until midnight on January 31, for travel before March 25. - TradeArabia News Service
