Abu Dhabi's Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort has just been ranked ‘The Most Instagrammable Hotel in the World’ in a poll conducted by Luxury Travel Advisor, the top travel website covering all the latest news and trends in luxury travel.

More than 35,000 readers voted for the five-star desert property, which sits on the edge of Abu Dhabi’s Empty Quarter, with the Anantara establishment defeating second-placed Viceroy Los Cabos in Mexico by taking 61 per cent of the online head-to-head vote.

Sometimes known as The Mirage Palace, Qasr Al Sarab’s overall design resembles a sandcastle but the separate Royal Pavilion Villas are more like palaces, with private pools and a butler service which no doubt enhance the property’s appeal as an Instagrammable location.

The luxurious interiors feature earthy desert colours with soft furnishings made with local fabrics, giving it a very Middle-Eastern atmosphere and guest rooms have balconies overlooking the spectacular sand dunes. There are also a huge range of desert activities to enjoy, including camel trekking, dune bashing, desert fat biking, horse riding, campfire barbecues, full moon experiences, archery and many others and since its inception the property has won numerous awards, including the UAE’s Leading Desert Resort and the Middle East’s Leading Desert Resort three times each.

“We are extremely happy to have won this award, especially as the votes cast were from knowledgable travellers interested in luxury travel – a sector we particularly pride ourselves on,” said Ali Hassan Al Shaiba, acting executive director of marketing and communication sector at the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi). “Qasr Al Sarab by Anantara is one of the jewels of our tourism proposition in Abu Dhabi, and we are very proud that it has been recognised once again for its excellence. This award concerns its aesthetic and atmospheric attributes, but we are also very proud of the service, cuisine and hospitality it provides.”

Laurence Klett, PR and marketing manager from Anantara Qasr Al Sarab, said: “We are deeply honoured and would like to thank all Luxury Travel Advisor voters. From the stunning landscape to the decadent Arabian décor or picture-perfect desert activities and share-worthy dining experiences it is not difficult to see why our resort has been voted the Most Instragrammable Hotel in the World and is a bucketlist destination that creates a thousand timeless moments that can be cherished for a lifetime.”

The results come after Abu Dhabi also celebrating a double success at the 2019 World Travel Awards, where it won two major accolades.

At the 26th edition of the annual awards, Abu Dhabi was named the Middle East’s Leading Business Travel Destination, while the DCT Abu Dhabi also won the Middle East’s Leading Tourist Board award.
