Oman hotel revenues drop 51.5pc in first six months

The total revenue of Omani hotels in the three-to-five-star category fell by 51.5 per cent to OMR56.11 million ($145.2 million) until the end of June compared to OMR115.75 million ($299.6 million) for the same period of 2019.

Hotel occupancy rates fell by 42.1 per cent to reach 32 per cent until the end of June against 55.3 per cent for the same period of 2019, according the latest monthly statistics released by the NCSI.
 
Meanwhile, the total number of guests in Omani hotels fell by 53 per cent in the first six months of 2020, reaching 409,940 guests from 871,595 guests for the same period of 2019.
 
Among the nationalities, Europeans constituted the maximum number of visitors, reaching 154,853. This was followed by 134,567 Omani guests and 38,672 Asian tourists until the end of June 2020, the data released by NCSI revealed.
 
There was an overall drop in the number of guests of all nationalities until the end of June, with American guests and GCC guests falling by 56.1 per cent and 61.7 per cent to reach 14,238 and 32,630 guests, respectively.
 
There was also a drop in the number of African, Oceanian and other Arab guests by 52.1 per cent, 41.9 per cent and 63.4 per cent to reach 2,784; 4,589, and 13,371 guests, respectively.
 
Omani hotels received 1.77 million guests and the hotels generated a total revenue of OMR229.5 million ($594.1 million) in 2019. - TradeArabia News Service
