Morocco is ranked 31st among the most visited countries in the world and is second in the ranking of the most visited countries in Africa.

The traditions which constitute its richness have been preserved despite the development of competitive tourism infrastructures and, since the 1960s, the government has made tourism a priority since it represents nearly eight per cent of the country’s GDP.

The recent Morocco Travel Market proved an ideal showcase for the destination’s climate, beaches, nature, culture and heritage.

The show was a truly international event with exhibitors including large hotel chains such as Accor, Mövenpick and Starwood in attendance, as well as local chains such as Ryad Mogador and Group Palmeraie Golf Palace which consists of five resorts in one.  Partner Royal Air Maroc also had a huge pavilion along with Morocco Tourism Board.

And although Morocco does have some excellent five-star accommodation, including the well known brands, it seems the Ryads, or privately-owned villas, are getting a great deal of  attention, particularly from the American market.
