Revival of the fittest as Hyatt Regency Hong Kong reopens

A room at the newly opened hotel

When Hyatt Regency Hong Kong closed its doors on New Year’s Day 2006, both international guests and local residents lamented the end of a hospitality era.

Hyatt Regency Hong Kong opened on Nathan Road in 1969 – the year Neil Armstrong landed on the moon and The Beatles released Abbey Road.

It was the first Hyatt hotel established outside the US and throughout its 36 years, maintained its position as one of the premier locations to stay, wine and dine in Hong Kong.

Now, Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, Tsim Sha Tsui has opened, re-energised in a new location but retaining the spirit and qualities of the much-loved former hotel. By updating nostalgic favourites and veritable Hong Kong institutions like Hugo’s, the Chin Chin Bar and The Chinese Restaurant, the hotel continues the legacy of the former Hyatt Regency Hong Kong.

The hotel spans floors three through to 24 of the new K11 multi-use development which runs the length of Hanoi Road in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui and sits atop ‘The Art Mall’: six stories of boutiques and restaurants.

There are 381 rooms, including 33 suites, with Regency Club guest rooms, private lounge and meeting rooms on levels 22 to 24.
