HEADQUARTERED in Singapore, SilverNeedle Hospitality recently opened its upper upscale hotel NEXT in Brisbane, Australia.

At the 304-room NEXT Hotels Brisbane, free wi-fi is available throughout the entire hotel and for an unlimited number of personal devices. And four items from the minibar are free daily from a great range of premium refreshments. Under the ‘We Trust You’ policy, the does not check if you’ve consumed anything beyond the free items.

Based in the Queen Street Mall, one of Australia’s premier shopping districts, the hotel is one of Brisbane’s biggest hotel redevelopment projects in recent years. “When we created the NEXT Hotels brand, we seized the opportunity to redefine the industry’s service standards with the sole aim of empowering our guests,” says Iqbal Jumabhoy, managing director and group CEOof SilverNeedle Hospitality. “Returning to the basics of providing good service, we considered very carefully the various ways that will make business life easier, and even enjoyable, for our guests.”

The Club Lounge, open 24 hours a day to all hotel guests at no extra charge, includes an outdoor pool and an adjoining terrace bar, a 24-hour gym and business centre. The especially designed InTransit Zone offers shower pods to freshen up and the city’s only Sleep Podsto for much-needed rest after a long flight.

NEXT Hotels Brisbane is the first hotel in Australia to use the mobile key to check in and out of the hotel, unlock the room door, control the room temperature, lights and entertainment channels - even when they are outside the room. Ordering cocktails by the pool and selecting room service prior to arriving at the hotel is a cinch with NEXT Technology. The NEXT App, available to download from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, can enable all this and more.

In another first for Australia, every room in the hotel will have a Samsung Galaxy S4 phone for complimentary use throughout the stay. With free wi-fi, guests can access free local and cheaper international calls. Any calls made to the guests’ hotel room will be automatically routed to the Samsung Galaxy S4 phone when not in the room.

The specially designed DreamWeave Sleep System, consisting of the highest quality pillow-top mattress with gel-infused memory foam, Egyptian Cotton 300-thread count per inch linens and a selection of premium pillows, is available in all room types without extra charge.

Australia’s hotel stock is set to experience its first major overhaul in more than two decades, as suggested in a new report from Colliers International.

Colliers International’s ‘Fresh New Look: Hotel Sector Gets a Make Over’ report states that major cities in Australia will soon see a renewal of hotel stock inventory. The nation-wide overhaul will bring unique high-end accommodation, with a regional flavour instead of conforming to a generic, international style.

Hoteliers currently making the effort to confer individual properties with their own distinct styles include Accor with its Sofitel So line, IHG’s Hotel Indigo, Marriott with its Autograph Collection and Starwood’s Aloft Hotels.
