The Air Connectivity Programme (ACP) has signed a cooperation agreement with Delta Air Lines to strengthen direct air connectivity between Saudi Arabia and the US and expand the Kingdom’s international aviation network.
Signed on the sidelines of WTM Spotlight Riyadh, the
agreement supports plans to launch direct flights between Riyadh and Atlanta,
providing US travellers with greater access to Saudi Arabia while expanding
travel options between the two countries.
The new service is expected to offer more than 85,000
round-trip seats annually and will be operated using Airbus A350 aircraft.
The route is also expected to increase air capacity and
support the growth of tourism and travel between Saudi Arabia and the US.
"The cooperation agreement with Delta Air Lines
represents a strategic step toward strengthening direct air connectivity
between Saudi Arabia and the United States of America," said Ahmed
Albrahim, CEO of the Air Connectivity Program.
He said the Riyadh-Atlanta route will connect passengers to
Delta’s wider network across North America, improving access to Saudi Arabia
from priority markets and offering international visitors more travel options.
Albrahim noted that: "cooperation with one of the
world's leading airlines builds on the Air Connectivity Program's efforts to
develop strategically valuable routes."
He explained that such routes extend beyond direct
city-to-city links by providing access to broader global connectivity networks.
"We continue to work with our partners across the
aviation and tourism sectors to attract more international carriers and
increase seat capacity from target markets," Albrahim emphasised.
The agreement forms part of ACP’s wider efforts to attract
international airlines, establish direct routes to priority markets and support
Saudi Arabia’s tourism and aviation ambitions under Vision 2030.-TradeArabia News Service
