Jazeera Airways has welcomed its newest Airbus A320neo aircraft in Kuwait, marking the first delivery under its landmark order for 26 Airbus aircraft and a new phase of fleet expansion and long-term growth.
Chief Executive Officer Barathan Pasupathi accompanied the
aircraft on its inaugural flight, J921, from Airbus headquarters in Toulouse,
France, to Kuwait, coinciding with the airline’s 21st anniversary of
operations.
A welcoming ceremony in Kuwait was attended by Mohammad
Almousa, Vice Chairman of Jazeera Airways, representatives of the Kuwait Civil
Aviation Authority and Ministry of Interior, airline management and employees.
Almousa said: “Taking this aircraft on time, in a year when
Kuwait's airport was closed for two months, was a deliberate decision by the
Board. It is the first of 26 new aircraft. It is owned by Jazeera, financed by
Kuwaiti banks, and burns around 20 percent less fuel per seat than the previous
generation. The credit belongs to the people who kept this airline flying
through the hardest year since our first flight in 2005. This delivery is our
statement of confidence in Kuwait, and in them.”
Pasupathi described the delivery as a defining milestone in
the airline’s development, highlighting its investment in future growth,
operational resilience and Kuwait’s aviation market.
“Today marks a defining moment in Jazeera Airways’ growth
journey as we celebrate 21 years of flying. The arrival of the first aircraft
under our 26-aircraft order is much more than a fleet addition. It represents a
significant investment in our future, our confidence in Kuwait’s aviation
market and our ambition to take Jazeera Airways to the next level. This
milestone is particularly meaningful following the extraordinary challenges
faced by the aviation industry and our region. Our teams have demonstrated
exceptional resilience, agility and determination, and today we are looking
firmly ahead. With modern, more efficient aircraft, an enhanced customer
experience and an expanding network, we are building a stronger, more
competitive airline positioned for sustainable growth.”
The new aircraft is fully owned by Jazeera Airways and
features the latest Airbus A320neo technology, offering improved fuel
efficiency, lower emissions and reduced noise compared with previous-generation
aircraft.
Passenger amenities include lightweight, ergonomically
designed RECARO seats and larger overhead baggage compartments to increase
cabin storage and improve boarding convenience. The aircraft is expected to
strengthen operational efficiency while enhancing the onboard customer
experience.
Jazeera Airways is targeting a fleet of 50 aircraft by 2030
and plans to expand its network to 100 destinations. The strategy includes
strengthening existing routes, increasing capacity and opening opportunities
for further connectivity across its markets.
The delivery comes as the airline builds on its operational
recovery following unprecedented regional aviation disruptions earlier this
year. Its development plans focus on fleet expansion, network growth, digital
innovation and continued investment in employees and infrastructure.
Pasupathi added: “Every aircraft we welcome creates new
opportunities to connect people, communities and markets. This first delivery
is the beginning of a much larger journey, one that will see us introduce new
aircraft, enhance our product and expand our reach. It also reflects the
dedication of our people, who have worked tirelessly to keep Jazeera Airways
moving forward. We are proud of what we have achieved and even more excited
about what lies ahead.”
Operating across more than 50 destinations in the Middle
East, Asia, Europe and Africa, Jazeera Airways said the latest delivery
reinforces its commitment to a modern, efficient fleet, accessible travel and
sustainable growth, while supporting the development of Kuwait’s aviation
sector. -TradeArabia News Service
