Mandarin Oriental has launched MO.RE, a new sustainability platform aimed at reshaping luxury hospitality by placing resilience, connection and regeneration at the centre of its business strategy, hotel operations and guest experiences.
The initiative builds on the Group’s progress towards its
2030 sustainability targets, including a 33% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 carbon
emissions over the past 15 years and more than 80,000 hours contributed by
colleagues through volunteering.
MO.RE marks a shift beyond incremental, compliance-led
action towards strengthening business resilience, reconnecting people with
nature and culture, and generating lasting benefits for communities and
ecosystems.
“MO.RE is a decisive step forward. It moves sustainability
from the margins to the core of our business; strengthening resilience,
improving operational performance and safeguarding the destinations that
inspire our guests and define our hotels,” said Laurent Kleitman, Group Chief
Executive of Mandarin Oriental.
The platform is built around three pillars: Resilience,
Reconnection and Regeneration, which will guide decisions across the hotel
lifecycle, from investment and development to design, operations and guest
experiences.
Resilience focuses on preparing hotels and destinations for
climate change through individual hotel climate-risk profiles, improved
visibility of Scope 3 emissions and a decarbonisation pathway towards net zero
by 2050.
Reconnection aims to integrate nature, culture and
destination-led experiences into luxury hospitality through culinary and
wellness programmes, a proposed Biodiversity Kids Club and annual family events
for colleagues.
Regeneration focuses on protecting and restoring
biodiversity, expanding vocational education and hospitality career
opportunities, supporting artists and artisans, and mobilising ambassadors
through charitable initiatives.
Kandé Camara, Chief of Staff and Group Director of
Sustainability, said MO.RE aligns business decisions with guests’ growing
interest in distinctive destinations and meaningful experiences.
The Group said the platform would be delivered through
global initiatives and locally tailored programmes, with the aim of making
sustainability a business priority while contributing to the long-term
wellbeing of destinations and their communities. -TradeArabia News Service
