Dubai Municipality has opened registration for the 2026–2027 winter camping season in Al Ruwayyah, increasing capacity by approximately 120% to accommodate 600 camps and introducing new facilities, recreational activities and flexible accommodation options.

Running from November 1, 2026, to April 30, 2027, the season will offer UAE nationals a wider range of outdoor experiences, including larger camping plots, dedicated caravan spaces and fully equipped camps available for daily rental.

The expanded offering includes double-sized plots measuring up to 800 square metres, alongside standard 400-square-metre spaces.

For the first time, the Municipality has introduced 50 designated caravan plots and 10 fully equipped camps for daily rental, catering to visitors who prefer a ready-made camping experience.

The developments form part of Dubai Municipality’s plans to establish Al Ruwayyah as an integrated seasonal destination, with further improvements to facilities and visitor experiences expected in future seasons.

Bader Anwahi, CEO of the Public Facilities Agency at Dubai Municipality, said: “The 2026–2027 season marks an important step in our approach to developing Al Ruwayyah as an integrated winter destination that responds to the evolving needs of Dubai's community. By significantly increasing capacity and introducing new camping options, recreational facilities and spaces for community activities, we are expanding opportunities for UAE nationals and their families to enjoy the winter season in a safe, well-organised environment.

“Our ambition extends beyond the enhancements introduced this season. We are establishing a foundation for the continued development of Al Ruwayyah, with a focus on providing more diverse experiences, strengthening community connections and ensuring that our public destinations continue to contribute to quality of life and wellbeing.”

As part of the expanded programme, the Municipality has designated 10 spaces for winter events and gatherings.

These areas will host family activities, community programmes, recreational experiences and seasonal markets, providing additional opportunities for residents and visitors to engage in organised outdoor activities.

The initiative also creates investment opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), particularly in food and beverage services, desert activities and recreation.

Local businesses will be able to introduce new products and services, supporting entrepreneurship and economic activity while broadening the range of experiences available to campers.

Anwahi said: “An important part of this approach is creating opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises to participate in the destination's development. By encouraging local businesses to introduce new services and recreational experiences, we aim to support entrepreneurship while expanding the range of activities available to visitors. This reflects our wider commitment to developing public facilities that deliver lasting community and economic value.”

Under the seasonal arrangements, permit holders can design and equip their camps according to their needs after obtaining the required permits and having their plot boundaries marked.

Camps must comply with municipal regulations, including requirements for temporary fencing, and may be used exclusively for family purposes and camping activities.

Dedicated areas have also been allocated for government entities to establish camps according to their operational requirements.

UAE nationals can register and reserve plots through Dubai Municipality’s official digital platform, wintercamp.dm.gov.ae, or the DubaiNow app.

Seasonal reservations are available for periods ranging from three to six months, while caravan plots and fully equipped camps can be booked separately for daily use, subject to applicable requirements.

Through the expanded capacity and additional services, Dubai Municipality aims to strengthen Al Ruwayyah’s position as a winter destination, encourage outdoor recreation and family engagement, and enhance community wellbeing across Dubai. -TradeArabia News Service
