The Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) in Jordan welcomed over 1.9 million passengers during Q1,  - marking a 6.1 per cent growth in year-to-date passenger figures compared to the same period in 2018.

Year-to-date aircraft movements (ACM) totalled 17,746, registering a notable 6.9 per cent surge, while year-to-date cargo dropped by 8.4 per cent to stand at 22,608 tonnes.

Throughout March 2019, QAIA served 676,447 passengers and recorded 6,162 aircraft movements, indicating a rise of 4.6 per cent and 5.3 per cent - respectively. Meanwhile, QAIA handled 8,442 tonnes of cargo, a 7.5 per cent decrease compared to the same month a year ago.

“2019 is off to a great start with passenger numbers showing a steady increase, driven largely by travels to/from QAIA to Erbil, Doha, Cairo, Istanbul and Antalya as the top five destinations during the first quarter. This achievement was made possible thanks to the hard work, dedication and commitment of our team and stakeholders, and we look forward to seeing these efforts come to fruition for the remainder of the year,” commented Kjeld Binger, Airport International Group CEO. - TradeArabia News Service
