New properties in RAK

-   Rakeen will develop over 12 mega projects of mixed use properties in Ras Al Khaimah and the international markets worth over Dh20 billion.

The tourism projects currently under way in RAK include Al Marjan Islands, Jebal Al Jais and Banyan Tree Resort. Rakeen will also develop and manage tourism projects in Italy Iran, India, Azerbaijan, Ukraine and Georgia.
 Located 27 kilometres south west of the town centre, Al Marjan Islands is the first man made islands project to be developed in Ras Al Khaimah. The cluster of five islands extends over 27 million square feet and is worth over $1.8 billion.
 The project will be completed by mid 2009.

-   The Rezidor Hotel group will open a second property in the northern emirates, the
 Radisson SAS Hotel Al Qurm, Ras Al-Khaimah, which will target corporate, government and tourist segments and is scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2009.
 Adjacent to the golf course and overlooking the mangroves, the five star property will have a private beach front, 269 guest rooms, four specialty restaurants, a breakfast café, a lobby café, a banqueting hall, a nightclub and a spa and fitness area.
 Jean-Marc Busato, area vice president of The Rezidor Hotel group commented, “Ras Al Khaimah has made major upgrades to its airport and road networks and is said to be one of the UAE’s strongest emerging tourism spots with its focus to attract sustainable tourism due to its unspoiled nature and stunning scenery.”
 “It’s important that Rezidor is part of this development and we aim to have a presence in each emirate within the next five years.”

-   Banyan Tree Holdings has signed a management agreement to operate the first Banyan Tree Resort in one of the four islands in the Saraya Islands residential project in Ras Al Khaimah.
 This is Banyan Tree’s 12th flagship in its portfolio of upcoming properties in the Middle East and will complement the group’s current desert resort development in Ras Al Khaimah.
 Saraya Islands include six premium five star hotels and resorts, a marina, villas, townhouses, waterfront terraced apartments, retail areas, luxury spas, restaurants and entertainment outlets, a boulevard, indoor and outdoor sports facilities, and an amusement water park.
 The development is due for completion in late 2011.
