IHG Hotels & Resorts is expanding its Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio in Spain with the addition of San Bernardo, Vignette Collection in Madrid.

The 67-room hotel is expected to open in March 2028, taking IHG’s total open and pipeline Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio in Spain to 21 properties.

Located on Calle de San Bernardo in central Madrid, the project will transform a partially protected heritage office building into a luxury hotel while preserving key architectural features.

Planned facilities include an internal courtyard, all-day dining venue, lounge and bar, and fitness facilities.

The property is owned by San Bernardo 19 S.L. and will be operated by Hotel Collection International, one of IHG’s largest franchisees in Spain. Catella advised on the transaction.

Willemijn Geels, Vice President, Development, Europe, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said: “Madrid is one of Europe’s most dynamic luxury hotel markets, and this signing gives us an exceptional opportunity to grow Vignette Collection in the heart of the city. The combination of a characterful heritage building, an outstanding location close to Gran Vía and an experienced operator creates all the ingredients for a truly distinctive hotel in one of IHG’s most exciting key markets in Europe.

“Vignette Collection is resonating strongly with owners who want to preserve what makes their hotels special while benefiting from IHG’s scale, systems and global reach. We are delighted to be partnering with San Bernardo 19 S.L., Hotel Collection International and Catella to bring this exciting vision to life.”

Spain remains a priority European growth market for IHG, with its portfolio spanning 10 brands across multiple segments and continued expansion in destinations including Madrid, Barcelona, Mallorca, Málaga and Marbella. -TTN
