Royal Jordanian Airlines (RJ) has welcomed its 17th Airbus A320neo Family aircraft, advancing its fleet modernisation programme and plans to expand its network and strengthen operational capabilities.
The new aircraft is
among 10 aircraft of various types added to the fleet since the start of 2026,
bringing RJ’s total fleet to 36 aircraft.
Another A320neo is
scheduled to arrive in December, taking the family’s fleet to 18 by year-end,
with two more expected in 2027 and 2028 to reach 20. An additional Airbus A321
is also due next year.
Royal Jordanian Vice
Chairman and CEO Samer Majali said the investment in next-generation aircraft
will improve operational efficiency and passenger comfort.
The A320neo Family
serves the airline’s short- and medium-haul network across the Middle East,
Gulf, Africa and Europe.
Three A320neos will
also offer a Premium Economy product.
RJ is expanding its
long-haul fleet, having added two Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners this year, with a
third due in 2027.
The airline plans to
grow its 787-9 fleet to nine aircraft, supporting nonstop long-haul services
with improved fuel efficiency and onboard features including Wi-Fi and advanced
entertainment systems.
The airline is also
upgrading its seven Boeing 787-8 aircraft with Wi-Fi, cabin refurbishments and
its new livery.
RJ currently operates
eight Embraer E2 aircraft for regional services.
Majali said the fleet
and network expansion is being implemented alongside market requirements and
financial considerations.
He noted that RJ
recorded positive financial results in the first half of 2026, alongside growth
in revenues, passenger numbers and operations.
The airline is also expanding its network, with new destinations including Misrata, Munich, Hamburg, Sharjah, Alexandria, Dallas, Vienna and Tashkent. RJ aims to expand its network to around 60 destinations in the coming years. -TTN
