Dusit opens Lake Toya retreat
Dusit International has expanded its presence in Japan with the opening of WE Hotel Toya, Dusit Collection, a lakeside retreat in Hokkaido, that officially joined the Dusit Collection brand on July 1, 2026. The property is the first Dusit Collection hotel in Japan and the company's third hotel in the country.
Located on the shores of Lake Tōya within the Toya-Usu UNESCO Global Geopark, the hotel, designed by Kengo Kuma & Associates, features 55 lake-view guestrooms and three two-storey villas, each with a private open-air bath. The rebranded resort has also introduced refreshed dining concepts combining Hokkaido's seasonal ingredients with Thai influences.
TUI expands global hotel portfolio
TUI Hotels & Resorts has expanded its global portfolio with seven new hotel openings across Europe, Asia and the Caribbean, marking a strong start to the summer season. The additions include properties in Türkiye, Spain, Bhutan, Barbados and China, reflecting the group's expansion in established and emerging leisure destinations. The next opening is scheduled for August, when TUI Blue Han River in Vietnam will join the portfolio with 125 rooms.
The company also announced upcoming projects, including Riu Palace Phuket, the brand's first hotel in Thailand, and The Mora Singapore, its first property in Asia. Meanwhile, TUI Suneo will expand with eight new hotels across Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, China, Bulgaria, Spain and Türkiye between 2026 and 2027.
Centara expands Vietnam portfolio
Centara Hotels & Resorts has unveiled the first details of Centara Hotel & Residences Van Don, a new bayfront property scheduled to open in Q4 2026, marking the group's second hotel in Vietnam. Located within the Ao Tien High-Class Port and Tourism Urban Area, the hotel overlooks Bai Tu Long Bay and is 15 minutes from Van Don International Airport.
The property will feature 481 rooms and suites across 12 categories, each equipped with a kitchenette for short and extended stays. Guests will have access to dining venues serving Vietnamese, Italian, Chinese and international cuisine, along with two ballrooms, meeting rooms, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a Kids' Club, fitness centre and SPA Cenvaree.
ENVI Paje opens in Zanzibar
ENVI Lodges has officially opened ENVI Paje, a 22-villa beachfront retreat on Paje Beach, Zanzibar, introducing a wellness-focused hospitality concept centred on nature and personalised wellbeing.
The property features 15 villas with private pools, alongside garden and oceanfront accommodation showcasing local craftsmanship and Zanzibari design. Central to the guest experience is the AFYA wellbeing philosophy, combining science-based therapies with traditional African botanical practices through tailored wellness programmes at The Sanctuary Spa.
Guests can access treatments including Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT), Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF), yoga, breathwork, sound healing and contrast therapy. The resort also offers kitesurfing, kayaking, SUP yoga, cultural workshops and curated island excursions.
Dining is centred around FLŌ restaurant, serving locally sourced cuisine inspired by Swahili flavours, while a functional mixology programme complements the property's holistic wellness offering.
