New initiatives drive growth
Oman Air boosts regional connectivity, enhances insurance

Oman Air is reinforcing its position as the Sultanate's national carrier through a series of initiatives aimed at improving connectivity, enhancing the passenger experience and supporting Oman Vision 2040. The airline has launched a new GCC route, introduced integrated travel insurance and significantly expanded its Khareef operations with SalamAir.

New Muscat–Abu Dhabi service

Oman Air has launched a new daily direct service between Muscat and Abu Dhabi, further expanding its regional network and strengthening connectivity within the GCC. The route becomes the airline's 49th destination and its tenth within the Gulf region, providing convenient travel between the two capitals while offering seamless onward connections through Abu Dhabi.

Chief Executive Officer Con Korfiatis said the addition reflects Oman Air's strategy of growing its network with destinations that deliver long-term value, support tourism and trade, and contribute to the Sultanate's wider economic ambitions. Abu Dhabi joins a growing list of new destinations introduced this year, including Taif, Singapore, Tashkent and Sochi.

The airline has also strengthened its customer proposition through a strategic partnership with Takaful Oman Insurance SAOG, appointing the company as its local travel insurance partner. Supported by travel insurance technology provider Insurte and programme architect ISA Assist, the collaboration delivers an integrated solution covering travel insurance, reinsurance, and global medical and travel assistance.

The service allows passengers to purchase travel insurance directly during the booking process, making travel planning more convenient while providing additional peace of mind. The partnership also supports Oman Air's commitment to increasing In-Country Value (ICV), with spending on local companies having tripled between 2024 and 2025 as part of its contribution to Oman Vision 2040.

Boosting Khareef connectivity

Alongside SalamAir, Oman Air has significantly expanded operations for the Khareef Dhofar 2026 season, increasing daily seat capacity on the Muscat–Salalah route by almost 400 per cent during peak travel periods. Together, the airlines have added 192 additional flights and more than 35,000 extra seats during July, alongside new international services designed to attract more visitors to Dhofar.

Oman Air has maintained its subsidised national fare for Omani citizens at OMR54 ($140.45) for return flights between Muscat and Salalah, while SalamAir continues to offer discounted resident fares starting from OMR9.99 ($25.98) one way.

The airlines have also expanded international access to Salalah through new services from Dubai, Bahrain, Dammam and Baghdad, supporting tourism, local businesses and the wider economy throughout the Khareef season.
