The Ajman Department of Tourism Development (ADTD) signed strategic memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with several international entities, fortifying collaboration in hospitality and tourism project development.

Noteworthy collaborations include an agreement with Karisma Hotels and Resorts, a leader in hotel and resort management, to develop comprehensive five-star resorts and hotels in Ajman, along with entertainment ventures. Additionally, strategic partnerships were announced with Hotelbeds and AM & RS Holding Company, aimed at bolstering tourism trade and enhancing visitor services.

ADTD Director General, Mahmood Khaleel Alhashmi, tells TTN: “Ajman has experienced remarkable growth as a destination over the past year. Statistics for September 2023 show a substantial 10 per cent increase in total hotel revenues compared to the same period in 2022, reflecting the thriving tourism industry.”

Ajman had recently witnessed a remarkable surge in the tourism sector, with increased hotel revenues, occupancy rates, and visitor numbers. Occupancy levels have also risen by 5 per cent and Ajman welcomed 7 per cent more visitors in September 2023 year-to-date compared to the same period the previous year.

Ajman’s hospitality industry has seen expansion, with a total of 50 hotel establishments and approximately 4,300 available rooms. There are additional projects in the pipeline, including the Masfout Height Resort Project, which aims to create a mixed-use tourism and hotel development in the Hajar mountains region.

Additionally, the emirate is actively promoting wellness and adventure tourism, investing in eco-friendly water sports, and participating in the national campaign to plant 100 million mangrove trees by 2030. These initiatives are designed to diversify Ajman’s tourism offerings and attract a diverse range of visitors, contributing to the post-COVID recovery of the tourism sector.

The UK and Ireland markets have been key feeder markets for Ajman, showing substantial growth in terms of guest numbers, room nights, and length of stay compared to pre-pandemic years, Alhashmi tells us. “These positive trends are expected to continue, reflecting confidence in the market’s expansion and a return to pre-pandemic tourism levels. While it’s challenging to predict with certainty, the UK and Ireland markets are likely to remain important feeder markets for Ajman in 2024, given the ongoing popularity of the destination among travellers from these regions.”

Ajman has garnered significant interest towards its diverse array of tourism experiences and lucrative investment opportunities in the tourism sector, underscoring its dedication to advancing sustainable tourism and elevating the emirate’s overall well-being.

In the following years, travellers can expect exciting new openings and developments in Ajman. The Masfout Height Resort Project is a significant addition, offering a mixed-use tourism and hotel development in the Hajar mountains region, providing accommodation options, a nature reserve, and a lake for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers. Ajman’s commitment to wellness and relaxation will continue to be evident, with properties like The Oberoi Beach Resort and Zoya Health & Wellbeing Resort offering luxurious accommodations and holistic wellness programs. Additionally, eco-friendly and adventure tourism options will be expanded, further enhancing Ajman’s appeal as a diverse and vibrant travel destination.

Ajman offers a diverse range of activities and tourism experiences to cater to various traveller segments. Families, couples, honeymooners, and groups of friends continue to visit Ajman for memorable vacations.
