The Shepherd Mayfair has opened in London’s Shepherd Market, introducing an 82-room boutique hotel combining the neighbourhood’s history with contemporary design, British art, tailored wellness services and new dining venues.
Located at 2 Stanhope Row, the six-floor property spans
33,600 square feet and is a joint venture between Bain Capital and Orka
Investments.
The hotel takes its name from architect and developer Edward
Shepherd, who transformed the area into the intimate Mayfair quarter that bears
his name.
The property stands on the site of The Cottage, Mayfair’s
oldest house, dating to 1618. Its design draws inspiration from the
neighbourhood’s historic mansions and independent character, incorporating
references to local figures and the area’s wartime intelligence history.
The hotel comprises 70 rooms and 12 suites, ranging from
Standard and Superior Rooms to Shepherd and Mayfair Suites.
Interiors feature adaptable furniture, marble bathrooms and
bespoke Floris London amenities, while selected rooms offer bathtubs and
separate seating areas.
Dining options include Fayre, a 62-cover restaurant serving
breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a menu combining British favourites and
European classics.
The venue features
artwork by British artist Adam Ellis inspired by the historic May Fair.
The Lounge, a 46-cover all-day café and bar with an outdoor
terrace, offers coffee and meals to hotel guests and local residents.
Teddy’s, a 72-cover late-night cocktail bar on the lower
ground floor, is scheduled to open in November 2026.
Its drinks menu will feature lesser-known 1930s cocktails
and signature serves inspired by phrases coined by Victorian writer Edward
Bulwer-Lytton.
Wellness offerings include in-suite electrical muscle
stimulation training through E-Pulsive, personalised fitness sessions and
skincare products from Italian brand Miamo. Floris London amenities are
provided across the property.
A ground-floor walkway inspired by London’s historic arcades
connects the hotel with Shepherd Market, featuring displays from fashion,
design, beauty, fragrance and drinks brands. Located near Green Park and Bond
Street, the hotel offers access to Mayfair’s galleries, boutiques and
restaurants. -TTN
