IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed an agreement with Westcombe Group to develop Hotel Indigo London – Kingston, a 90-room property scheduled to open in 2027 in Hampton Wick, southwest London.
The hotel, owned by Westcombe Group through its Acre Hotels
Collection, will become the seventh Hotel Indigo property in Greater London,
expanding IHG’s presence in the UK capital and strengthening its Luxury &
Lifestyle portfolio.
The project forms part of the redevelopment of Kingston
Bridge House, a vacant former university accommodation building that will be
transformed into a mixed-use destination featuring the hotel and 22 residences.
The property will overlook the River Thames and offer access
to nearby attractions, including Hampton Court Palace, Kew Gardens and Richmond
Park. Rail connections will place London Waterloo around 20 minutes away, while
Heathrow Airport is approximately 30 minutes away by car.
Willemijn Geels, VP of Development, Europe at IHG, said: “We
are delighted to welcome Westcombe Group to IHG and bring Hotel Indigo to the
London Borough of Richmond upon Thames in the UK. Hampton Wick’s rich history,
riverside setting and strong local identity make it a natural fit for a brand
that celebrates neighbourhood stories and authentic local experiences.
“This signing reflects strong owner demand for Hotel Indigo
in the UK&I and comes as we recently celebrated 200 open Hotel Indigo
properties around the world. Together with Westcombe Group, we look forward to
creating a distinctive hotel for guests and the local community, supported by
IHG’s global scale and powerful enterprise.”
Kamal Pankhania, Chief Executive Officer of Westcombe Group,
said: “This is a very exciting moment for Westcombe and for Hampton Wick. We
are transforming a formerly vacant building into new homes, affordable housing
and a five-star luxury hotel that will bring jobs, prosperity and thousands of
visitors into the local area each year.
“I am particularly proud that the hotel will be branded as
Hotel Indigo, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ impressive worldwide portfolio
of high-value hospitality assets. IHG is one of the most respected names in
global hospitality, and we see this project as marking the start of a long and
successful relationship between our two businesses here in the UK and
overseas.”
The development is also expected to generate employment and
apprenticeship opportunities and support local suppliers.
Hotel Indigo, IHG’s boutique lifestyle brand, draws
inspiration from neighbourhood culture, history and local communities through
distinctive design, local artwork and food and beverage experiences.
The brand has 201 open hotels and 134 pipeline properties
globally, including 55 open hotels and 23 pipeline properties across Europe.
Recent UK openings include Hotel Indigo Gloucester – The Forum and Hotel Indigo
London K West Shepherd’s Bush in the first quarter of 2026. -TTN
