Foreign tourist arrivals in Korea surpassed 2 million in July, rising 20.8% year-on-year to 2.09 million, according to data from the Korea Tourism Organisation.
The monthly figure reached 144.6% of arrivals recorded in
July 2019, exceeding pre-pandemic levels as international travel continues to
recover.
Chinese visitors formed the largest group at around 777,000,
followed by tourists from Japan with 330,000, Taiwan with 261,000, the United
States with 150,000 and Hong Kong with 76,000.
South Korea welcomed 12.8 million foreign visitors during
the first seven months of the year, marking a 21.3% increase compared with the
same period last year, the data showed. -TTN
