The Althoff Collection has officially unveiled The Florentin, a luxury hotel that uplifts the 125-year-old Villa Speyer with a contemporary extension to create a new architectural landmark in Frankfurt.
The property, which opened its doors in late 2025, centres around a leafy inner courtyard, positioning the original 1901 Art Nouveau mansion as its historic and cultural anchor.
The transformation was a collaborative effort between Swiss design studio atelier zürich and Singapore-based Unscripted, focusing on a meticulous restoration of the villa’s original wood panelling, coffered ceilings, and ornate fireplaces.
At the heart of the hotel’s urban retreat philosophy is the ability to book The Villa in its entirety for exclusive use.
This configuration provides guests with a private kitchen, several historic salons, a winter garden, and nine themed Signature Suites, essentially functioning as an ultra-luxury private residence with full access to five-star hotel services.
The nine suites are narratively driven, drawing inspiration from Frankfurt’s intellectual and artistic history.
These include The Royal Suite and thematic suites featuring Austrian oak, Portuguese marble and 600-thread-count Egyptian cotton linens from Rivolta Carmignani.
The Florentin marks a significant addition to the Althoff Hotels portfolio, which remains Germany’s only owner-managed luxury hotel brand. This opening precedes the highly anticipated Althoff Dom Hotel in Cologne, scheduled to debut later in 2026 as a reinvention of the historic 1857 grand hotel.
With existing properties in London’s Mayfair and St. Tropez, the Frankfurt opening reinforces Althoff’s commitment to architecture, design, and service as its primary pillars for the luxury market.
